Day 32: Transitioning

This was a 'funny' day -- seeing one set of family off to the bus to the airport, sending another set off to continue exploring Florence and working to get our own packing started.

We did go to lunch at a favorite place -- Trattoria la Casalinga -- and had ribolitta there again -- I had home made pappardelle with duck ragu -- fabulous!

Coffee after that close by and then back 'home' to pack. On the way I did of course find more interesting things which caught my eye:

Packing -- when did I buy these things! What was I thinking! Yes, they are small but there are LOTS of them. Well, okay, not THAT many -- but it feels like a lot!

Steve and I did venture out again for his Physical Therapy appointment -- and yes, a gelato at Venchi. Steve got into a long conversation with the doctor -- what a blessing this doctor has been!

Back home for a quick dinner made by the other half of our family still here and then we were off to the  Florence Opera!

We saw Iolanta by Tchaikovsky. It was a one act opera lasting 1 hour and 50 minutes. It was a beautiful story of a blind princess. What struck me was the large amount of religious imagery and language in it -- it was a perfect opera to watch and listen to as we wind down our time in this city where there is a religious SOMETHING on practically every block. The words of the opera voiced some of the prayers and things I've been feeling ever since I came here. Thank you Holy Spirit! It was a wonderful way to be with members of my family on this part of my sabbatical.

18,777 steps today -- 7.23 miles.
